The Pranos app works on iPhone and Android.
It comes with every kit and runs on iPhone with iOS 17 or later and Android 7.0 or later. It connects to your HoloGlass wirelessly, so you don’t need an adapter to make signs or play your photos and videos. (On Android, the app asks for location only to connect to your HoloGlass.)

Optional: HDMI screen mirroring
Also in every kit: the HDMI phone adapter and an HDMI cable, to show your phone’s whole screen (YouTube, live streams, games). Only this part depends on your device:

  • iPhone with Lightning: iPhone 5–14 and iPhone SE generations 1–3 require a compatible Lightning Digital AV adapter instead of the HDMI phone adapter.
  • iPhone with USB-C: iPhone 15, 16 and 17 models support wired display output, except iPhone 16e and 17e.
  • Android: Your exact phone model must support USB-C video output (DisplayPort Alt Mode). A USB-C charging port alone does not guarantee compatibility.
  • Tablets and laptops: The USB-C port you use must support video output, such as DisplayPort Alt Mode or Thunderbolt. Check your device’s specifications.

    Your phone needs USB-C video output. iPhone 14 and older use Apple’s Lightning Digital AV Adapter, sold separately. Some streaming apps block mirroring.

We make your screen to match your car’s window pattern, from the make and model you enter with your order, so it fits your window exactly and you can install it yourself. The Rear Side Door and Back Windshield screens slide right into place; the Front Windshield is a roll-up film you lay over the windshield and roll up when you’re done.

Rear Side Door

Fits most sedans, SUVs, crossovers and pickups with rear side windows (crew cab; most extended cabs). Light and moderate tint generally work; very dark tint reduces brightness.

SUVS AND CREW CABS

Back Windshield

For SUVs and crew-cab pickups with a sunroof or glass roof. The HoloGlass unit mounts on the roof glass.

PARKED ONLY

Front Windshield

The largest display, for parked shows and events. Roll the screen up and put it away before you drive. Needs a sunroof or glass roof and enough cabin length.

Will my phone work?

The Pranos app works on iPhone and Android.

How does HoloGlass work?

A compact HoloGlass unit mounts inside the vehicle and lights a custom-fit screen placed on the window. The content is viewed from outside the car.

How do I know it will fit my car?

Use the fit tool on this page. It tells you right away which windows fit your car. Then enter your car’s year, make and model with your order, and we make your screen to match its window pattern. Unusual vehicle? Text us a photo at (415) 754-8430, and our team checks it before we make your screen.

Does it work during the day?

HoloGlass is designed for low-light and nighttime use. The image becomes stronger as the surrounding light decreases.

Can I install it myself?

Yes. The kit is designed for customer installation and includes the mounting hardware and setup guide. First-time setup varies by vehicle. Later installations are faster.

How do I play content?

Every way to play comes with every kit. In the Pranos app, design signs with Pranos AI or the sign builder, send your own photos and videos, and build playlists. The HDMI phone adapter and an HDMI cable come in every kit too, so you can screen mirror your phone directly or stream live (it needs a phone with USB-C video output).

Does it play sound?

Yes, on any Bluetooth speaker you own. Pair it in the HoloGlass unit’s settings, using the included remote.

Does it have a battery?

No. It runs on your car’s power, through the 12-volt socket and the included power inverter. Depending on the car, that socket turns off with the car, stays on for a while, or stays on; your owner’s manual says which. When the car isn’t running, HoloGlass uses your car battery, and a low battery may not start the car. So keep that time short, and unplug the inverter when you leave the car.

Do I need internet?

Not to send or play photos and videos stored on your phone. Ones kept only in iCloud need internet to download first. Pranos AI needs internet to design a sign: the app uses your phone’s mobile data, then reconnects to your HoloGlass (you may be asked to tap Join). No internet? Use the sign builder, which works offline.

Can I use it while driving?

Play video only while parked. Stopped in traffic isn’t parked. Before you drive, with your phone connected to your HoloGlass, switch the Pranos app to Driving: a playing video pauses on the frame it’s on, a photo or sign stays up, and the app won’t play or upload anything new until you switch back to Parked. Driving is a switch you set on each phone, and it doesn’t sense motion. Driving covers what the Pranos app plays. It doesn’t control HDMI mirroring or the HoloGlass unit’s other inputs. Some places restrict any display while the car moves, even a still image, so check your local rules and turn HoloGlass off where it isn’t allowed. You’re responsible for what your window shows. Front Windshield: parked only. Roll the screen up and put it away before you drive.

Already have HoloGlass?

Update it for free. You install the software update from a USB stick with the guide we email you. Then the new Pranos app (iPhone, iOS 17 or later) works with your HoloGlass directly. The Pranos media player isn’t needed. Until you update, the app will ask you to.
